NAAC is an assessment and accreditation body of government of India that conducts assessment and accreditation of higher education institutions in India. It is an autonomous institution funded by the UGC and headquartered in Bangalore in the state of Karnataka. It evaluates institutions for their conformity to the standards of quality in terms of their performance on a set of parameters related to the educational processes, curriculum coverage, teaching –learning processes, learning outcomes, quality of faculty, research outcomes, infrastructure, resources of learning, organizational governance, students services and financial well-being of the institution. To address the issues of deterioration in quality of education in the country National Policy on Education (1986) recommended creation of an independent national accreditation agency. Thus, NAAC with headquarter in Bangalore was established in 1994.
