The National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a cornerstone of the country's youth empowerment initiatives, administered by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. With its roots deeply embedded in the ethos of volunteerism and civic engagement, NSS serves as a dynamic platform for students to channel their energy and enthusiasm toward meaningful social causes. Embracing the spirit of altruism and service, NSS endeavors to instill in participants a sense of social responsibility and empathy towards the socially disadvantaged or the less fortunate. Under the guidance of dedicated nodal officers, NSS volunteers participate in a diverse array of community service activities spanning a wide spectrum of societal issues. From organizing cleanliness drives and blood donation camps to conducting awareness campaigns on health, sanitation, and environmental conservation, NSS initiatives are designed to address pressing challenges faced by communities across the nation.

Moreover, NSS fosters holistic development by providing opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and skill enhancement. Through hands-on involvement in service projects, volunteers cultivate invaluable leadership, communication, and teamwork skills while honing their problem-solving abilities and gaining practical experience in project management. Furthermore, the collaborative nature of NSS activities promotes cross-cultural understanding and fosters a sense of unity and solidarity among participants from diverse backgrounds.

The impact of NSS extends far beyond the immediate communities it serves, as volunteers emerge from their experiences with a heightened sense of civic duty and a commitment to effecting positive change on a larger scale. By nurturing a generation of socially conscious and proactive individuals, NSS plays a vital role in shaping the future leaders of the country imbuing them with the values, skills, and mindset necessary to build a more equitable, inclusive, and compassionate society. As an integral component of the country's youth development framework, NSS stands as a testament to the power of collective action and the transformative potential of service to uplift communities and foster sustainable development.

After a brief pause due to COVID and some other issues, the NSS boys' unit of the college was revived in July 2023 and its volunteers have been participating in various community service activities since.
